Session 12 : Photo Painting - A Dog Portrait / Part 1 / Preparation
Turning a favorite photograph into a fine art painting is one of the most fun features of Painter Essentials. Sometimes photos need a little tweaking in order to look as nice as a painting. This session walks you through the steps when you are preparing photos to become paintings. At the end of this session you will have an artistic image ready to become a beautiful painting.
Session 13 : A Dog Portrait / Part 2 / Under Painting
Add some of your own colors and then blend them by hand to take on the natural characteristics of the dog's fur. Learn how to mix accent colors that work nicely into your paintings without overpowering the subject and how to use brush size to develop a focal point. Experiment with using copies of your picture in order to feel confident that mistakes can be easily corrected.
Session 14 : A Dog Portrait / Part 3 / Details
Paintings grow in three steps, under-painting, focal point development and details and decorations. In this session you will learn brush tips for making nose textures plus how to paint eyes with sparkle and expression. The painting will be complete with extra accents in the fur and you will learn how to add them delicately by using layers.
Session 15 : The Ballerina Watercolor Painting / Part 1 / Preparation
This session begins with studying a photograph, applying artistic enhancements and extending the canvas so you can delicately blend the edges into white paper. First steps like this one really make a difference in how artistic your final result will be.
Session 16 : The Ballerina Watercolor Painting / Part 2 / Under Painting
Use Impressionist brushes to extend the borders, add additional color accents and give a good base to the painting. Blend paint and photograph together to create a soft watercolor background using brush techniques for water, sand and surf. Practice moving your hand in different ways to "shape paint" and leave the photograph behind as you develop your own style of painting.
Session 17 : The Ballerina Watercolor Painting / Part 3 / Adding Fantasy
One of the most important things you can do to make a photograph really become a painting is to add your own fantasy. Be courageous as you paint on your own, blending and shaping fabric to create a lovely sense of a summer breeze.
Session 18 : The Ballerina Watercolor Painting / Part 4 / Developing a Focal Point
Once you have painted everything on the photograph it's time to evaluate your work, fix small mistakes and use smaller brushes, different colors and more attention to edges to bring focus into the important areas of the painting. This session is where your painting really starts taking important shape.
Session 19 : The Ballerina Watercolor Painting / Part 5 / Decorations
Paint each facial feature and add definition and accents to hair and clothing for a finished, polished look. Then go in close and add sparkle to special waves, satin thread to the dress - whatever you want! When people look closely at your painting they will see all of the details in your very own masterpiece.
