Sessions

Session 00 : Working with the Image Files
Learn how to navigate, open and save image files used in this program. Make sure you watch this first!
Session 01 : Workspace Set Up for Photoshop
In this session you will learn how to set up a workspace that lends itself well to facial retouching and enhancement. Load Janes custom retouching brushes (included on the DVD) and save the workspace for easy accessibility.
Session 02 : Preparing the Face
In this session you will learn how to use Photoshop to enhance each facial feature of a retouched image to bring it gracefully into a painting. You will also learn how to set the overall highlights and shadows for the best contrast.
Session 03 : Workspace Set Up for Painter
In this session you will learn how to set up a workspace that lends itself well to freehand painting. Jane will also go over the basic palettes and tools common to photo painting.
Session 04 : Creating the Composition
The first step in a watercolor is to choose what parts of the photograph you wish to include in the painting. This will become your basic composition. In this session you will also learn how to make a folder for your progressive files and set up a custom palette.
Session 05 : The Basic Blend
Learn a variety of techniques for adding paint and blending it and the photograph into a painting. See how brush expression makes a difference in the mood of the painting and how to pull color into interesting shapes. You will also learn how to make a custom color set and save it with your painting.
Session 06 : Adding Interest with Paint
Once the basic blend is completed, you will want to start bringing interest to the focal point and bring in some additional colors. Learn how contrast, color and detail can be used to direct the viewers' eyes to where you want them to look.
Session 07 : The Details
In this session you will learn how to add the final details that make a photo painting look painterly yet photographically realistic. You will also learn how to do delicate blends and add decoration to the work.
Session 08 : Textures
Learn when you want to apply texture to your painting and how to do it correctly. You will also see different styles of texture and learn how to adjust it to print pleasingly.
Session 09 : Final Adjustments
In this final session you will bring your finished painting back into Photoshop for analysis and fine tuning the color and value balance. Congratulations on completing your first watercolor portrait!
