Looking Ahead: Dec. 10th, WIPI Exhibition

Founded in 1981, Women In Photography International (WIPI) is widely regarded as the premiere organization devoted to women photographers worldwide. In past years, the annual Distinguished Photographer's Award, a tribute to photographers whose work represents extraordinary achievement and excellence, has been awarded to Annie Leibovitz (2003), Sylvia Plachy (2004), and in 2005, one of WIPI's founding members, photographer Carrie Mae Weems. This year the online exhibition of entries begins December 10, 2008. Look for the award winning work of Susan Meiselas, a giant in photojournalism; and L.A. based Sara Terry, also an award winning photographer, known for her ground breaking work on photo-documentary, Aftermath: Bosnia's Long Road to Peace, winner of the Humanitarian Award at the 2008 Lucie Awards.
