LOOK3 Photo Festival Success

LOOK3, the Festival of the Photograph, in Charlottesville, Virginia was a remarkable celebration of photographers, their images, and stories. Nick Nichols, LOOK3 Co-Executive Director Editor at Large, from National Geographic Magazine, said the Charlottesville Festival of Photography was a huge success this past weekend.

Exhibitions took over the town, inside and out. What started as a small showing has grown into a national draw for photogs. Nature photographer Tom Mangelsen had his work hanging from the trees on the downtown C'ville mall.

On Friday night, there was a slideshow called "Shots" at the Charlottesville Pavilion, which featured the work of photographer/bloggers like Shawn Rocco and his camera phone images. Shawn had video from his photo session with then presidential-candidate Obama, where he put down his SLR and pulled out his cellphone to grab a shot. The crowd roared with applause. Check the vid below; Obama is at the 5:14 mark, but watch the whole thing.
