At the Royal Photographic Society (RPS)'s Annual Awards Ceremony in London on Nov. 19, Annie Leibovitz will be presented with the Centenary Medal and an Honorary Fellowship. Leibovitz is being recognized for her "outstanding contributions to the art of science and photography". The award comes at a difficult time in Leibovitz's career as she is currently involved in multiple financial litigations against her.In the past the Society has awarded the Centenary Medal to such distinguished and internationally known photographers as Cornell Capa and Sebastiao Salgado. For Leibovitz the accolade serves to remind both her fans and her detractors of her considerable talent. ![]() Image: pbs.org American Masters series, Annie Leibovitz - Life Through A Lens From the RPS press release, new for 2009 is The Royal Photographic Society Award for Outstanding Services to Photography.
