The 2010 Sony World Photography Awards - Cannes Call for Entrants

The call is out again for the annual Sony World Photography Awards in Cannes for 2010. With categories for both amateur and professional photographers, last year the event attracted 60,000 entrants from 139 countries.

For professional photographers there are 12 categories covering three genres; commercial, fine art, and photojournalism/documentary. The overall winner walks away with $25,000 (USD), Sony equipment, and the L'Iris D'Or title.

New to the 2010 awards is a documentary category for amateurs. The judges are looking for shots that document a person, place or current issue. Something that captures momentous occurrences in every day life.

Winners will have their work exhibited in galleries around the world as part of the Sony World Photography Awards Global Tour. Closing for entrants is December 4, 2009.
